Love Burn 2023: North Carolina and Jack

I am writing this sitting on Bubba's passenger seat on Thursday morning, the first official day of Love Burn 2023.

The seat is swiveled around so I can look outside the van and Time is playing in the background. The breeze smells of ocean and palm trees: I feel renewed after two cups of espresso (moka).

Three days ago Scott Frias and I left my house and started a three-day trip to Virginia Key Beach in Florida. The total drive takes about 20 hours so we decided to divide it in 3 parts.

The first stop was in North Carolina. After driving about 8 hours we reached Jack's house where we spent the night. Jack is  a very good friend of Scott and they have known each other for about 25 years or so. He had offered to host us for the night. We had a great time with him and he made us feel at home in every possible way. I look forward to meeting Jack again next year or on the way back.

We played Cricket and we had some good conversations. I enjoyed seeing the two friends be happy and enjoy each other's company: It reminded of how I feel when I go back to Italy and meet some of my life-long friends.

The same evening I also jumped on the last Camp Contact zoom-meeting (i.e. before being onsite at LB) where I was gently reminded I did not complete the job I volunteered for... due that evening... oops!

I was supposed to finish the design of the parking map for the camp but somehow I had assumed it could be done the day after - while Scott would be driving. Regardless, I went to sleep a little earlier and the day after I woke up and got this masterpiece started (sarcasm abounds):

This is how Bubba's cabin looked before I went to sleep.

Scott had to park across the street.
